Sparkling Elderflower Wine & Rafatia Workshop
I know – its close to Christmas but this is when the green walnuts, and the elderflower hedges are doing their thing.
Join me to make a batch of gorgeous elderflower wild wine (a bit like floral champagne!), and learn how you can make your own at home.
We will also make a batch of delicious Catalan-style ‘ratafia’ – a delicious aromatic artisanal aperitif made from walnuts which will at peak of season in the weeks before Christmas.
Of course, there will be tastings of the 2018 versions!
Elderflower:
A native British hedgerow plant, our Ashton Park Elderflower produces beautiful white blossoms that imbude a delicious floral aroma and flavour to anything they are used in. And of course perfect for the delicious sparkling elderflower wine you’ll be making.
Ratafia:
Ratafia is a traditional Catalan (Southern Spain) liqueur dating back more than a thousand years but still also popular in France, Italy. This liqueur is made from tender walnuts mixed with various aromatic plants. It is also perfect with the beautiful lemon peel and bontanicals you’ll forage from the Ashton Park kitchen garden.
