An Introduction to print making in the Southern Highlands
With Ailsa Crammond, Bespoke Illustrations
In the morning we’ll teach you two different linocut techniques. You’ll also learn how to use patterns and colours to add depth to a design. Then you’ll get to design, carve and print your own range of cards. You may want to bring along a photo of a favourite pet or be inspired by the beautiful rural surroundings of Ashton Park.
Following lunch, you’ll learn how to make a stamp design to use for block printing onto paper and fabric. Once you’ve got that mastered you’ll be able to make your own fun, contemporary design using rubber blocks which are very easy to carve. Then you can finish the day by printing your own design onto a linen tea towel.
We will provide you with all the basic printmaking equipment and materials, including carving tools, lino sheets and ink on the day. Please bring along your own blank light coloured tea towel or other fabric to print on for the final fabric printing session – or you may wish to purchase a premium pure linen tea towel on the day for $10 – so you’ve got a lovely hand made gift for someone special.
